Four of them so far. One tells you when the next train goes. Two put whatever your house knows where you can see it. One notices you walked into the room. All small, all local, none of them want a subscription.
The range
Each one does a single job properly. Three of them live inside Home Assistant; the departure board needs nothing but your WiFi.
The live board for your hallway.
Live departures from your stop, counting down in the real line colour — plus weather, tides and world clocks. Picked from a web page on your phone; no app, no account.
Whatever your house knows, on a wall.
A 64×64 LED panel that Home Assistant drives: a clock, scrolling messages, full-screen notifications, and six label-and-value rows you fill from any automation.
Eighty characters of whatever matters.
A 20×4 character display on a shelf, with Home Assistant writing every line. Readable across the room, invisible at night, and it can't show you an advert.
Notices you, then gets out of the way.
A Panasonic PaPIRs sensor on a Wemos D1 mini, flashed with ESPHome. Separate Motion and Occupancy entities, so alerts stay snappy while the lights stay on.
Matrix, LCD and PIR are for you. They're ESPHome devices: Home Assistant finds them on your network by itself, every setting is an entity you can automate, and nothing leaves the house. Start with the PIR — it's the cheap one that proves the rest.
Get Nodex Pixels. It needs your WiFi and nothing else — no hub, no Home Assistant, no account to create. Plug it in, pick your stop on your phone, and it looks after itself from there. See how it works.
Matrix, LCD & PIR
All three run ESPHome and talk straight to Home Assistant over your own network. No vendor cloud sits in the middle, so nothing breaks the day a company loses interest.
Plug it in, join its setup hotspot, pick your WiFi. Home Assistant raises a New device discovered notification — click Configure and it's done.
Hold times, timeouts, brightness, screens, theme colour. All exposed to Home Assistant, all automatable, no reflashing to change your mind.
New firmware turns up as Firmware update available on the device. Click Install. No cables, no laptop, no ESPHome dashboard required.
Click Take Control in the ESPHome dashboard and the config is yours to edit — they're products, not locked boxes. The Matrix and PIR configs are public on GitHub.
